It says “Michael O’Donnell and Michael Hanly” on the sleeve, but they are more commonly known as Michael O’Dhomhnaill [ “Bothy Band”, “Relativity”, “Nightnoise” and Kevin Burke partner ], and Mick Hanly. This is one of the rarest LP records in Irish music, coming from the brief period when the major “Polydor” label took an interest in the music coming out of the folk revival in the early 1970s. On the rare occasions when a copy did turn up for sale , certainly throughout the 1990s, the asking price could be as high as £200 . It’s a fine collection of songs, sung in English as well as Irish Gaelic. Guest appearances from Liam O’Flynn, and all of what later became “The Bothy Band”, at least for their first “1975” album.
